SHERR Values

Spirituality

It is the way in which I communicate with God, with myself and with everything around me, finding the true meaning of my life.

Marymount students are challenged to cultivate their soul and illuminate their spiritual path. Through religious activities and values formation, they seek to find God in themselves, in others and in creation. Their actions and words should reflect their relationship with God and the values they treasure. To achieve a full spiritual life, they learn to know themselves, listen to God in silence and recognize their gifts in order to share them with others. They participate in activities such as values formation, weekly Eucharist, confession, two hours of religious education per week, spiritual retreats, convivencias, special ceremonies and religious celebrations throughout the school year.

Honesty

It is to be congruent with what I think and what I do according to the common good. It is to be truthful in all aspects of my life, with my intentions, words or actions.

Marymount Honor Code
Being a student at Marymount Barranquilla implies behaving with honesty, ethics and academic integrity at all times, following the duties of the Coexistence Manual and the "10 Daily Do's". These include living the SHERR values, being honest in academic work, striving to improve and motivate others, contributing to sustainable development, respecting different points of view, communicating positively, being an entrepreneurial leader, researching and analyzing global issues, showing pride in the school, and recognizing mistakes as opportunities for improvement.

Peace Mediators
Peace mediators work to strengthen healthy relationships, manage conflicts and create agreements to ensure respectful and positive treatment between all parties involved. Their mission is to create a more peaceful and inclusive school environment. Join the movement, spread kindness and let's make our school a better place together!

Excellence

It is the quality that allows me to find my strengths and transform them into positive attitudes for the benefit of others. It is to give the best of myself to surpass my own standards, achieving continuous growth.

Academic Excellence

National Honor Society
The National Honor Society Marymount Barranquilla Chapter, is the highest distinction that the institution grants to those students who stand out for their personal qualities such as character, academic excellence, social service and leadership. The selection of the members is made among the 10th, 11th and 12th eligible students, taking into account the selection criteria.

Marymount Honor Society
To encourage excellence, Marymount College has created the Marymount Honor Society, which begins in 7th grade and continues through 10th grade. Members must have a minimum academic average of 92, no Type II or III absences, and a minimum SHERR Progress average of 90. Students must maintain these averages annually to remain in the society. Members are role models of the Marymount Way, inspiring others with their positive attitude.

Respect

It is to treat myself, others and all that surrounds me with honor and dignity, recognizing the inherent rights and responsibilities. This involves maintaining integrity and ethical behavior in all my actions, ensuring that I act with respect for others and the environment we share. This commitment not only strengthens my own personal values, but also contributes positively to the well-being and harmony of our community.

Responsibility

It is to take ownership of my thoughts, words and actions to transcend and inspire the community by my example.

Our Planet Our Plan
Marymount College strives to awaken and strengthen in students, teachers and community the commitment to reduce our Ecological Footprint. It seeks to become a Sustainable School through sustainable practices in school policies. The PRAES plan promotes environmental awareness and action, including initiatives to reduce the ecological footprint and protect biodiversity. Key actions include programs such as Sembrando Huellas 2.0, proper waste disposal, recycling, an Eco Calendar, social media presence, Green Club, ECO time and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, integrating environmental education and action into school life.
