The Marymount Barranquilla Library is an essential part of our community where we dedicate a space for imagination, research and fun.
Its main objective is to offer its users opportunities to explore, create and transform new knowledge into lifelong experiences.
We offer digital and physical resources of bibliographic material, access to information and technology, playful and safe recreational spaces, and develop programs that favor the formation of competent readers and self-directed learners ethically aware of their information needs, supported by an international reference framework for school libraries.
Each section has its own library, in addition to the classroom libraries present in all classrooms.
Preschool Library
The Preschool Library has a wide range of literary offerings in both English and Spanish, which allows our readers in formation to begin a process of approaching and interacting with books in a free and spontaneous manner, as well as through guided reading and/or reading aloud.
In this way, the children fall in love with reading and interpret it as a fun and recreational activity, which will contribute not only to their reading process but also to their academic development.
Elementary Library
The Elementary Library offers our school community a variety of opportunities that allow its users to discover the magic of imagination, designing and implementing strategies and programs that develop both social and reading skills. These are some of the programs that are carried out: Library Class, Reading Program: Scholastic, "Library Garden", D.E.A.R. Program, Book Fair, Reading Plan Support, Play it-Make it Recess, Playroom/Makerspace, and reading promotion activities.
High School Library
The high school library offers its users different spaces with access to reading, research and fun. This allows them to apply the strategies learned while doing collaborative work, highlighting the values of ethics and respect, and developing their creativity. The services we offer are: Access to bibliographic material, recreational games, documentaries and films, curricular support, and support for the reading plan.
Classroom Libraries
The Classroom Libraries are located in each classroom from preschool through high school, and are managed by each respective library in their area. They are comprised of selected materials in both English and Spanish that support the high school curriculum and the Balanced Literacy program that is implemented in elementary and preschool.
