Marymount Barranquilla has two campuses: the Preschool located in the city of Barranquilla, and the main campus located on the outskirts of the city, in Sabanilla, a small town in the municipality of Puerto Colombia.
This campus houses the Elementary and High School buildings, administrative offices and sports facilities for our entire community.
Preschool Campus
The Preschool building, located at Carrera 59 # 84 - 226, receives students from Nursery, Prekinder and Kinder on a daily basis. In addition to having spacious classrooms, they enjoy other specialized classrooms, such as the 'Body Movement' room, computer room, the oratory, as well as two playgrounds and recreation areas where imagination and creativity are the main protagonists.
Sabanilla Campus
Elementary School Building
Marymount Elementary School's facilities consist of an area of 10,883 m2 and two levels, with ample spaces that support collaborative learning and respond to the formative demands of the educational work of the 21st century.
Students will be able to develop learning experiences in new, spacious, state-of-the-art learning spaces in 24 classrooms, a complete science laboratory, a chapel and four specialized classrooms for music, dance, art and theater.
Elementary School Building
The second floor has a multipurpose room and the knowledge and technology center, a large space that encourages learning in different areas, invites reading and promotes innovation and creativity. The building is equipped to meet the needs of everyone, with five entrances, stair or ramp access, a staff lounge with a terrace, gardens and snack bars.
Recreational area
Convinced that learning happens inside and outside the classroom, and aware of the importance of recreational space in the learning process of our students, we present the new recreational area of Elemental, which has an innovative and dynamic design created by some high school students in their art elective, and which inspires our children to interact and enjoy in a healthy and fun way.
Recreational area
This new recreational area is equipped with a variety of games such as zip line, honeycomb, swings, sky-runner, hillside slides and a central module with different activities that generate the development of their motor skills while having fun.
Chapel
For Marymount College it is a priority to offer an education based on Catholic principles. For this reason, the Elementary building has a chapel with a capacity for 150 people, a tabernacle, an altar, the Obregón stained glass window and the Sister Johanna niche. In this space for the entire Marymount community we can continue to cultivate spirituality in our students and offer a place to strengthen their relationship with God. There we will celebrate weekly masses for both areas and some sacraments.
Nursing
The infirmary, located on the second floor of the elementary building, has external access to attend to the needs of the elementary, high school, and staff in the common areas of the building. For the first time, a doctor and a nurse attend to the student population and other members of the community who require this service. This space is equipped with two cubicles, each with stretchers and an interior bathroom.
Middle and High School Building
The High School Building has a built area of 10,520 square meters, designed to promote collaboration between students and teachers.
They are unique spaces that allow the development of creativity, 21st century skills and basic competencies in each of the areas of knowledge. It is a concept that combines the urban with its wide corridors and common areas, with the nature of the outdoors brought indoors in the green walls.
We seek to provide an educational experience for our students.
Middle and High School Building
The new building is equipped with thermo-acoustic windows, LED lamps, acoustic ceiling, and a high-efficiency air conditioning system for greater comfort and lower energy consumption. In addition, we have an elevator, a complete fire protection system and several lighting fixtures along the wide corridors of the second floor, all to provide a comfortable, safe and beneficial place for individual and collaborative learning.
High School Building
Its two floors contain 26 L-shaped classrooms, each approximately 110 square meters in size and equipped with state-of-the-art technology for global competency training. In addition, there are art, drama, music and dance classrooms, three double-height laboratories, two multipurpose rooms, a library, offices, three snack bars, a staff lounge, restrooms with automatic toilets and sinks, lockers with integrated locks, and a Senior Lounge for eleventh grade students.
Common Areas
The collaborative spaces that are part of the common areas encourage collaborative learning, fostering assertive communication and authentic teamwork. Here, students will live a unique and different learning experience.
Classrooms
Each classroom is approximately 100 square meters in size, and is equipped with an integrated audio and video system that includes two speakers, an interactive videobeam and a touch screen control. This system allows us to strengthen the auditory development of our students and prepare them for international certification processes that require these skills.
Classrooms
It also has an anti-scratch and magnetic ceramic board. Now our training processes have been renewed to the language of our students with the interactive videobeam that enables the smartboard option, which facilitates the use of audiovisual resources and also allows immediate interactivity of content with students.
Laboratories
The Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories are designed to integrate the learning environment and the comfort of a classroom with a space for practice and experimentation. The adequacy of the space in each laboratory, as well as the air circulation, meet national and international standards. Each laboratory has a room for chemical preparation and storage of materials.
The school also has a sports complex that includes a 25-meter swimming pool, soccer, tennis, softball and baseball fields, and an enclosed coliseum with volleyball and basketball courts to promote physical activity, sports and other extracurricular activities. Immediate plans include the construction of a chapel/auditorium and a new cafeteria/dining hall.
