MSS Services
From Nursery through 12th grade
Counseling
The Department has a team of counselors, with degrees in Psychology, who work to promote the socio-emotional development of the students and the Marymount community.
Socio-emotional learning
Once a week, the students have a space to participate in a program designed and led by the counselors, geared toward the development of socio-emotional skills in the biological/sexuality, psychoaffective, ethical/values and prevention aspects specific to the different developmental stages of the students from Nursery through 12th grade. An emotional accompaniment is offered to students through the changes faced during their school tenure.
Early Intervention Program
This program is offered from Preschool through 3rd grade. It is geared to offering instruction and additional practice to those students that require it in order to reach their objectives. It aims to prevent difficulties in the future and enhance learning opportunities. The service aims to satisfy the personal and academic needs of each one of the students, acknowledging their individual potential.
This service is designed to work with intervention inside and outside the classroom, depending on the needs of the student.

Speech Therapy
The speech therapist offers intervention inside the classrooms for Preschool students in the areas of pronunciation, language development, auditory and cognitive processing. The therapist works with the Preschool students to develop their native language. Interventions take place with those students whose needs have been identified in advance.
College Counseling
The college counselor offers professional counseling and accompaniment to the students by working with them in the building of their life project, with the goal of helping them in the decision-making process of choosing their college path, and offering guidance with projects or ideas they want to undertake once they graduate.
Safeguarding & Child Protection
In order to guarantee the appropriate protection and well-being of our students, Marymount Barranquilla has adopted policies and procedures and has developed content that includes:
- A policy statement that applies to all members of the Marymount school community.
- Shared definitions and understanding about abuse, mistreat and neglect.
- Report of the procedure and clear steps to follow after disclosure.
- Training and education related to care and protection of children for students, families and staff members.
- Policies and procedures describing clear expectations for healthy interactions between adults, children and peers.
Parents' Program
Based on the co-responsibility principle, by which the family and the school are fundamental socializing agents in the formative process of the boys, girls and teenagers, the Parents' Program is a space of information, education and reflection for fathers and mothers about the care and parenting practice of their children.
The School of Parents is a tool for the family that facilitates communication, co-existence and comprehensive education of the boys, girls and teenagers, and also strengthens the family-school bond for an authentic joint education.

Infirmary
We offer infirmary services for students and staff members in Preschool, Elementary and High School. This service is designed to guarantee the well-being of the members of the community, offer stability, attention and accompaniment in emergency situations or specific health conditions, and accompaniment to the students that, for any reason, require to receive their medication during the school day. Likewise, the infirmary is part of the multidisciplinary work with the team of counselors for accompaniment and follow-up to the students that require it.
