Musical talent has always been a trait of our Marymount Leaders. We want to highlight the work of our former student Martín Velilla Pérez, class of 2008, who recently made a great contribution to the musical world. He was the producer of Carlos Vives’ album "Cumbiana". Martín started his musical journey at school, when he was part of the band playing the drums.
"It was very important for me to have artistic spaces in school that gave us the chance to explore music. My passion was born since then." He studied Music Production at the "Escuela de Música de Buenos Aires" (EMBA) in Argentina, and returned to Colombia to work as Artistic Director of Carlos Vives’ famous music theatre "Gaira". He had the opportunity to work with many local artists, and then started working directly as an artist producer.
"One of my tasks as a music producer for the album "Cumbiana" was to carry out an anthropological investigation with people from Colombia and the world, in which we managed to explore rhythms and find stories to tell through music," says Martín, who in addition of being Producer of the album, collaborated in the composition of three songs. Congratulations Martín, we hope you continue to grow as a professional and achieve great things!
